Our hotel is located on the luscious southern bank of the Seerhein (Lake Constance), right on the German-Swiss border in the scenic Tägermoos near the city of Constance.

Built in 1904, the Art Nouveau villa was taken over in 1905 by Anton Reiser who established a restaurant, a café and a colonial goods store on the premises. Since Reiser loved the opera “Der Trompeter von Säckingen” (The Trumpeter of Säckingen) based on Victor von Scheffel's ponymous poem, it inspired him to name the estate Trompeterschlössle (The Trumpeter’s Castle). Over the years, the property has played an important role in the regional history playing out along the German-Swiss border. Today the historic building presents itself as a comfortable country hotel furnished in the Scottish manor style, set in the most beautiful surroundings.

The Tägermoos is a 1.55 sq. km (0.6 sq. mi.) area in the Swiss Canton of Thurgau wedged between the German city of Constance and the centre of the Swiss municipality of Tägerwilen. Located on the southern shore of the Seerhein, its borders lie to the east of the so-called Paradies – a quarter of Constance – and to the southeast of the Swiss city of Kreuzlingen. The area was first mentioned in writing in 1245. The landscape is characterized by vegetable fields, greenhouses and the Seerhein, a stretch of the Rhine that connects two parts of Lake Constance. To the keen eye the many bodies of water and the expansive fields do bear a certain resemblance to the Scottish countryside.
